Public Key Infrastructure

Building a trusted and secure digital environment across users, software, applications, and devices

A Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) is crucial for the security of digital environments consisting of a diverse range of entities such as users, networks, applications, and devices.

Establishing a trust relationship between the connected entities, PKI is a long-proven technology that provides the foundation for their secure authentication, confidentiality in communication, and the integrity of data generated and exchanged. It can be easily integrated into almost any architecture with minimal overhead.

Each entity can identify itself as trusted within the connected environment using digital certificates that are issued by the Certification Authority (CA) – the root of trust of the PKI. As all the entities within the connected environment trust the CA of the PKI, they can also trust each other once they have received a digital certificate from the CA. The certificate reliably proves the digital identity of each entity.

This chain of trust enables secure connection, communication and data exchange between the entities within the trusted PKI environment.
